The wonderful benefits of Falun Dafa with the Caloundra Community-Sunshine Coast

‘Falun Dafa Day’ was warmly welcomed by the community of Caloundra Shire, Sunshine
Coast, Queensland, on Friday, 1st November 2002. Passers-by stopped to enjoy the
relaxing presentation of the five exercises accompanied by the melodious ‘Pu Du’
(Falun Dafa) music. Practitioners from the Gold Coast and Brisbane even travelled
a couple of hours to support the Sunshine Coast practitioners on the day. Local
Newspapers printed two items informing people of Falun Dafa Day prior to the event.
The response from locals was very positive! Many people were captivated to see
such a beautiful presentation of such peaceful exercises, and a number stopped
to receive information and participate in the day’s celebration activities.

The presentation was held on a grassy expanse outside the local library amidst
an array of colourful handmade lotus flowers graciously given out to the delight
of the onlookers. Throughout the day there was a continuous display of the exercises
and three exercise/meditation workshops were conducted so that people could
experience for themselves the benefits of the practice. Framed photos from the
‘Journey of Falun Dafa’ pictorial exhibit were displayed showing Falun Dafa’s
journey in the last ten years since its introduction to the public. Displays
in two local libraries were also set up prior to the event to promote Dafa and
the activities being held on the day.

An opening ceremony was held mid-morning with welcoming speeches introducing
Falun Dafa to the local community. A local couple shared how Falun Dafa has
benefited their family in raising three young children and another practitioner
explained the symbolic meaning of the lotus flower. Caloundra City Councillors
Cristaudo and Grosskreutz participated in our exercise workshops and shared
in the cutting of our celebration cake!
