The resolution was passed at a national human rights convention on October
25, 2004.

The University of Dar es Salaam Human Rights Association (UDSM-Human
Right) presided over the convention. The discussion topic was on the illegality
of the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China and how the international
community can help stop the persecution as soon as possible. A spokesperson for
the Tanzania Ministry of Labor and Sports and Director of Ministry of Policy and
Planning, Mr. Welson, the UDSM-Human Rights president, Associate Professor of
Baylor College of Medicine in the US and Falun Gong practitioner Lili Feng M.D.,
and victim of the South Africa Shooting incident Mr. David Liang attended the

The convention pointed out that just as air and water
transcend national boundaries, any person or region's pollution of air and
water actually is nothing less than an infringement on the basic survival resources
of humanity. Human rights also transcend national boundaries. When Jiang Zemin
decided to persecute “Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance,” he issued a challenge
to the human rights of all citizens in the world. The convention also condemned
the shooting incident plotted by some Chinese leaders that occurred on June 28
of this year in South Africa, which was an attempt to kill Falun Gong practitioners.
It was stated that the Tanzanian people felt an aversion for those who follow
the dictator to persecute Falun Gong. The convention openly supported all efforts
people have made to bring Jiang Zemin to justice.

The largest daily newspaper of Tanzania The Guardian published a series
of reports on the cultivation story of Australian Falun Gong practitioner Emmy,
who traveled to Tanzania to offer free instructions on the Falun Gong exercises.

After the convention, attendees surrounded Professor Lili Feng and continued discussing
with her about why Falun Gong is being persecuted in China, even as it has become
very popular in many other countries.

Finally,
the convention passed a resolution “condemning China's persecution of Falun
Gong and supporting bringing Jiang Zemin to justice.” The resolution, along with
signatures, will be submitted to the UN secretary Mr. Annan, and transcribed to
the Tanzania Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Chinese Embassy in Tanzania and
the UN Human Rights Commission in Geneva.

One of the two largest daily newspapers
in Tanzania, The Guardian, and several TV stations reported on the event.
