(AFDI) Australian Falun Dafa Info Centre – Sydney Falun Gong Practitioners
will start a car rally commencing at 9:30AM in front of the Chinese consulate at Dublane St Camperdown on 4th March, due to arrive in Canberra on Friday 5th March.
This car tour is an attempt to appeal to the Australian government and the
public to initiate a resolution at the United Nations Commission on Human Rights
to condemn China’s persecution of Falun Gong. It consists of Australians who
have been directly affected by the persecution.
Australia will chair the 2004 UN Human Rights conference in Geneva, commencing
on March 13th. The annual convention runs at the UN headquarters to examine
the urgent human rights crises, with the purpose of resolving violations via
third-party investigations. To date the Falun Gong persecution has not been
raised at the UN convention.
Australian citizen Lisa Liang will participate in the car tour. Ms Liang’s
sister Yiwen TANG, abducted on 23rd February by the Guangzhou police, was due
to arrive in Australia this year to visit her sister. Yiwen was previously detained
for three years in a labour camp, by WEN Chunlin a policewoman from the Gestapo-like
office against Falun Gong practitioners ("610 Office) of Haizhu Police
Department of Guangzhou. Ms Tang has been tortured by the police, which left
her partially disabled. Wen is allegedly involved in Ms Tang’s recent disappearance.
WEN Chunlin’s Phone number: 0011+ 86 20+ 8443 9241 ext. (610 office).
On Monday, practitioners will gather in Canberra to encourage support for the
end of persecution of Falun Gong, and will join a large gathering in front of
Parliament House to petition the Government.
