by a Sydney Falun Dafa practitioner
On 26 December about 20 practitioners gathered for group practice on Bondi Beach. The practice started half an hour later than expected because of the rain. Yet with determination we knew we were to practise outside and the sun soon broke through the clouds and the rain stopped long enough for us to practise.
While it had been raining, a young lady saw the boards we had which said “Falun Dafa, Free workshop” and she asked to join. She learnt very quickly and was able to keep up with the group in all five exercises.
During the fifth exercise another lady joined the practice saying that she felt an energy field around us. After the exercise she told one of the practitioners about how she come across Falun Gong before. Her Chinese boyfriend had practised Falun Gong in the past and spoke well of it. The lady teaches English as a second language at various language schools around Sydney. At one particular school her class consists of all mainland Chinese students who recently arrived in Australia. She said she feels sorry for them as she can see how they are suppressed and how they are “brainwashed” in China.
An example she gave was how she mentioned something in relation to Tibet and all the students looked at each other in shock as if not knowing what to do or how to react to her reference. She is now weary to mention anything about Tibet, Falun Gong and other things that are slandered by the Chinese government and media.
To our astonishment she revealed how these students call one another “Falun Gong” and consider this a bad name, an insult or a swear word. As a result we thought it would be good to see the school principal to clarify the truth to him/her about Falun Gong and the state of his students.
We all then continued with study and this was followed by lunch, all before the rain came back.
