Australian Falun Info Centre (Thursday, 29 July 2004) – The Chinese government’s
formally acknowledges the persecution of Falun Gong at Wednesday’s National Press
Club, Chinese Ambassador to Australia Fu Ying stated “There were killings,
there were actions of hurting people, these cases were addressed through legal
means.”
Ying’s responses attempted to justify and downplay the crackdown,
ironically it also described what the Chinese government has been doing for the
past five years.
Escalation of Violence and Genocide
Australian
citizen and practitioner David Liang, is recovering in Sydney after being shot
twice in each foot in South Africa. Liang and 8 other Australians was leaving
the Johannesburg Airport to Pretoria were shot at. The Australians went to South
Africa to peaceful appeal to the locals about the human rights and also help with
commence legal proceedings against Chinese Vice-President Zeng Qinghong and Trade
Minister Bo Xilai for the Genocide of Falun Gong in China. Three arrests have
been confirmed in South Africa more details to be provided when available.
Alleged
Self Immolation Incident and UN Investigation
Ying then raised the issue
of the Tiananmen self-immolation in which five people set fire to themselves in
Tiananmen Square in February 2001. A week after the so-called “Self-Immolation,”
CCTV launched a massive television, print and radio campaign claiming that the
event involved Falun Gong practitioners, even though the teachings of Falun Gong
specifically forbid killing, including suicide.
The authenticity of the
CCTV footage on the incident has been continually questioned by media since it
was first aired in 2001.
In August 2001 UN Economic and Social Council,
the International Educational Development Inc (IED) stated that their investigation
into the persecution of Falun Gong had revealed that “the only deaths had
been at the hands of the Chinese authorities, as part of a campaign which included
extreme torture, incarceration in mental hospitals and confinement in labour camps.”
Regarding the Tiananmen self-immolation, the IED’s Ms Parker explained that the
incident alleged by the regime to be proof of the Falun Gong’s evil intent had
been staged, and a video held by her organization demonstrated that to be the
