Origami lotus flowers have been adorning Sunshine Coast Shopping Centres and Libraries in the past few weeks to commemorate ‘Universal Children’s Day’ (Nov. 20). The brightly coloured paper lotus flowers brought delight to the young and young-at-heart on ‘Universal Children’s Day’ with a free lotus-folding workshop held at the Sunshine Plaza.
Commencing with Universal Children’s Day, ‘Petals of Peace’ is an ongoing project launched by Sunshine Coast Falun Dafa practitioners as a gesture of friendship to all children, encouraging tolerance towards cultural diversity and inspiring compassion for the suffering of others.
The ‘Petals of Peace’ project is dedicated to a 3-year-old Australian girl named Fadu, who lost her dad due to the ongoing persecution in China. Folding a paper lotus is symbolic of extending the heart of goodwill to other innocent children less fortunate, like little Fadu.
If your school or community group would like to have a free workshop learning how to fold a paper lotus flower, please contact: Heidi 5477 1099 or Margery 5448 8014.
