Dear Lord Mayor and Councillors,
We Victorians, who practice Falun Dafa, come from all walks of life, are of different ages and cultures yet but we all hold in common the universal principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance. Our practice includes tranquil exercises and most importantly, we try to better ourselves and assimilate to these great principles. In doing so, we have experienced great health improvements and serenity in the face of adversity.
This has brought harmony to our places of work as well as in society where we have contributed full-heartedly during the past four years. No matter how big or small a festival, the Australian people have been drawn to our tranquil practice. The many letters of appreciation from event organisers as well as from Councils around Australia stand as testimony to the beauty and power of Falun Dafa. This is what we hope to share with the community yet again as participants in the Moomba parade.
We can only reassure the Melbourne City Council and Moomba event organisers, that we will happily abide by all the regulations of this event as established during the application process and our confirmation as Moomba parade participants.
Our entry is comprised of:
a large pink Lotus float with a child sitting in meditation colourful satin banners with the words “Truth Compassion Forbearance” a knitted installation by a noted Romanian sculptor – Julianna Turcu depicting the sails of a ship Chinese fan dancing in costume Chinese dance with long red scarves in traditional yellow satin costume Court Ladies dressed in Tang Dynasty costume Traditional Chinese dancing in full costume.
All costumes and props have been painstakingly prepared and personally funded by Falun Dafa practitioners who wish to make this heartfelt contribution to the community. Judging by our different entries in past events we are sure that the people of Victoria will enjoy our entry very much.
