I used to work in Guangzhou Employee University and retired ahead of schedule
owing to weakness and illnesses which tortured me more than 20 years. I loved
to do Taiji and some exercises at Tianhe sports center. I hoped that the kind
of living style would cure my illnesses. However, many years passed, my illnesses
still the same and I had to visit doctors, eat medicine, use physical therapy
quite often. I also spent a lot of money for healthy food. But all of those
could not cure my illnesses. I heard that there was people practiced Falun Gong
at Tianhe sports center. They said that the teaching was free and the effects
on curing illnesses were great. For free! This was the main reason that I was
interested in learning Falun Gong. I used to spend so much money to learn Qigong
that was helpless to me. So in March 1996 I started to practice Falun Gong.
After one month, I felt my intestines and stomach were much better, I went to
Thailand with my sister later. While in the buffet dinner during the trip, my
sister witnessed that I ate anything happily even cool fruits, milk, those food
I did not dare to eat before. I smiled and told her that it was because I practiced
Falun Gong now.
After I read ‘Zhuan Falun’, I understand that to practice Falun Gong means
to be a good person according to the principle ‘Truth, Compassion and Forbearance’.
I have to upgrade my Xinxing, discipline myself strictly with the principle
‘Truth, Compassion and Forbearance’, get rid of bad thoughts, and upgrade my
morality. Also with the practice of the exercises one can cure its own illnesses.
From the morning I joined the group practice, I also joined the group study
for one or two morning. Practitioners talked about the conflicts met on daily
life and how they disciplined themselves with the principles ‘Truth, Compassion
and Forbearance’, which means look inside and find out what was wrong within
one self rather than blaming others. I found out my shortcomings among them
and strived to upgrade my xinxing (mind nature), get rid of bad thoughts and
attachments gradually. Owning to my hard work on xinxing, all of my illnesses
cleared away. From March 1996 till now, I have not visited any doctor and spent
one cent of medicare.
On 20 July 1999 Chinese government banned Falun Gong. It was not allowed to
practice at home too. I wanted to tell the truth to people, so I went to Beijing
Tiananmen Square on 1 January 2001 and wished to use my own experience to tell
my government and police that Falun Gong is good; practitioners are all good
people; we did not participate in politics; we even have not have a ironbar
with us; we are the group of people that being hit we will not hit back and
being cursed we will not curse back; all we need is the book of ‘Zhuan Falun’.
But once I stepped into Tiananmen Square, I was forced into a police car and
sent to police station to be interrogated. I told the policeman who was a tall
figure that Falun Gong enables people to be good according to ‘Truth, Compassion
and Forbearance’ and more good people in the society would benefit the country.
Because my answer didn’t satisfy him, he slapped seven, eight times on me with
his palm and sent me to a detention center for 5 days in Beijing. I went on
hunger strike with other Falun Gong practitioners for 5 days. At the night of
the fifth night, I was sent to the Beijing railway police station for interrogation.
I did not answer their question. They were very angry and said that they would
lock me up with cuff. I was not afraid because I knew that I did not do anything
wrong. Till the next morning, I told them that I came from Guangzhuo. Police
from Guangzhuo police in Beijing office came to pick me up at night and locked
me into the basement of the Guangzhuo police in Beijing office. After 5 or 8
days, two police from Guangzhuo haizhu district police station came to take
me back to Guangzhuo. I was sent to Haizhu detention center for 15 days. The
second day of the Chinese new year, Employee University came to take me back
to the University. My employer asked me to write a guarantee “not to go
to Beijing”, then they sent me back home. The University also deducted
almost RMB 10000 for the repatriating fee.

On the afternoon of fifth May 2001, in the big yard around my home building
suddenly appeared a police car, 4 or 5 policemen, 7 or 8 carders from street
committee rushed on 6 floor. There was one young guy knocked my door first.
After I opened the door, they all rushed into my home and tried to take me with
them. I asked why? What crime had I committed? They said I practice Falun Gong.
I said that Falun Gong taught people to be good people, and I had not break
any law; there was no any law said that practice Falun Gong offended the law.
I was unwilling to go with them. I then said that I had to eat my dinner. They
said I could eat later in their place. They then sent me to Tianhe Southern
police station, where I saw 3 female practitioners with gray hair, they all
Falun Gong practitioners. Four of us were locked in the police station, no food,
no sleeping. They punished us to sit until dawn.
The second morning we were sent to Huangpu law system education class, where
they use for drug users to abstain from drugs. It was a prison before, from
the third level down were for drug abstainers, and 4, 5, 6 level were offices.
In the beginning, they locked several practitioners together in one room; forced
to watch the defaming propaganda information, films, VCD that was produced by
the government to defame Falun Gong; at night, we were asked to write statement.
Because our writings were not up to their requirement, they then punished us
to stand without sleeping for 3 to 4 days. When they saw us still not give up
Falun Gong, they started to use isolation. One room locked one practitioner.
Female Falun Gong practitioners were locked on 4 and 5 levels and the male locked
on 6 levels. The room was locked outside. We had to eat, sleep and wash and
toilet in the same room. After 12 o’clock, I could hear the voice from 6 levels,
where the male practitioners were being hit, kicked, plunged and cursed. I was
so afraid that my heart jumped speedily. The hitters employed by public security
were security guards, who were trained by the police. There were sequentially
No1 hitter, No2 hitter and No3, No.4 hitter. The number was depended on the
number of people they hit and how brutality of the hit. They were all only 20
or 30 years old. They used fist to hit practitioners’ head, face, acupuncture
point; plunge, kit, tear hands, rip hair with skin. There was hair all over
the floor. Some of them would grip practitioners hair to rotate and plunge the
person. The one who hit me was tall and I was short. Once being plunged, they
forced practitioners stand up again at once and grip hair, rotate, plunge all
over again. My face was black and nose was bloodied; there were bruises,
pain all over my body. It was unbearable even when I laid down.
One time, the leader from the street committee saw me and asked why I became
like this? Whether the security guards tortured you? I said yes. There were
some practitioners being hit till their lip split, blood poured from their mouth,
but no one paid any attention. Furthermore, we were not allowed to sleep for
a few days or even we were allowed to sleep, we could only sleep for 3 to 4
hours. The hitter punished practitioners to stand for over 10 and more hours,
not allow to move while we were standing. Some practitioners were punished to
bend waist for 90 degree, then a book or stool to be put on the top of the back.
If the book or stool fell down from the back, there would be someone come and
hit and curse you. This punishment would continue for 5 to 6 hours and several
days. I thought why today’s people became so inhumane? Where was their conscience?
How can they kill people just for money? Only for money they can kill people,
how frightening? Some practitioners told them they should not do this and they
would take a dirty cloth and put into their mouth. Not possible to speak. Moreover,
the hitter could speak louder in meetings because the leaders gave them the
power, such as: “who dare not to write three scripts (that is guarantee
not to practice Falun Gong, statement of repentance, statement of separation),
I will throw him into the pond, (There was a pond about) or I will hang him
upside down in the air”. Such evil speaking, I was afraid that I could
not go out alive. But I thought even if I were tortured to death, they would
smear that I suicided. Because I heard that if someone been tortured to death,
they would say that practitioners had suicided. So I wrote a note and put into
my trouser pocket, which wrote: if I die, I was bitten to death, not suicide.
I am a Falun Gong practitioner and my master teach me that suicide is a sin.
Please re-assure the injustice for me. While they saw I was not willing to write
3 scripts, Mr. Lin and Mr. Wang the directors of the education class threatened
me in the mid night. Lin said there were a few routes for you to choose if you
were not writing 3 scripts:
1. Labor camp 2. hospital to have injection. 3. stay on the education class.
I said that I chose labor camp. Wang director said: If you are not writing,
I will let you walk in the class but die and lay to be carried out. Owning to
the physical and mental torture and pressure, I could not bear anymore. So I
wrote 3 scripts. On 13 July 2001 there were a final class, each practitioner
who wrote 3 scripts had to read aloud their articles in the meeting. Leaders
from Guangzhou Tianhe 610 office and staffs from my university’s 610 office
came to the meeting and said to let me come out of the education class to accept
teaching outside. Family and staff from the university came to take me back
home. After that the 610 office staff asked me to write a understanding article
for forcing me to give up Falun Gong. I did not obey but there was extreme pressure.
During that period, I felt faint all day, my hands and feet were shaking, I
was so sad and I felt I might collapsed. I could not understand at all; I did
not do any things harmful, only to be a good person and practice Falun Gong,
and that has saved a lot of money for the government for medicare, it is good
for the country and myself. And I was over 50s, I do not have any politics pursuit,
why persecuted me like that? Why the government deprived my freedom to belief
that is a right given by the constitution? Why the government deprived my human
rights?
I felt I have to reveal their crime to the world. So I wrote an article to
Minghui web to expose illegal persecution in Huangpu Law System Education Class
on 29 July 2001. Police saw that article on the web and came to arrest me on
10 August. One police and one leader from street committee deceived me that
they needed me to go to the police station and just tell the truth. The rest
of them wait downstairs. They were scared too. However, once they finished questioning
me at the police station, they then sent me to Huangpu Law System Education
Class. At the same night, No1 hitter, Zhaohua Qui came to hit me. He used his
fist to hit my head, his palm to hit my face. Then for continuous ten days not
allowing me to sleep, then one, two, three or four days intermittently not allow
me to sleep. In those twenty more days, even I could sleep, it was over 12am.
My head was hit a big bruise up to the size of 10cmX10cm. Everyday, time after
time they forced me to watch slandering information, video, VCD etc, or they
forced me to watch continuous four days and write sentiment article. Finally,
because of the utmost revolt of practitioners, some of them used their head
to hit the iron door, some of them went on hunger strike, the evil hitter then
stop hitting. I was released after 3 months and 16 days on 26 November 2001.
When the university came to pick me up, they asked me to hand in RMB 3000 tuition.
I said that I don’t have money and the university said that I borrow first then
pay it back later.
Those twice when I was in Huangpu Law System Education Class, hitters always
hit practitioners after 12am at night. They slept at day time. When they hit,
they hit practitioners in turns till they tired, and after some rest, they would
start the second turn and the third turn. When it was at dawn, they stop. Before
they hit, they drank a lot. So after 12am, my ears were like animal’s ears listening.
I could hear first the noise of pushing iron door, then curse howling, then
hitting rub-a-dub. Once I heard those bloodcurdling noise, I known that the
hitters had come to torture Falun Gong Practitioners. Those evil noise made
me very frightened. But when I thought what I did is right and good deed will
be rewarded with goodness, and bad deed would be punished by badness. It is
only a matter of time, I felt my heart quieten down.
The persecution towards Falun Gong practitioners by Chinese government did
not only stop but also kept escalating. For example, under the command of some
leaders recently, Huangpu Law System Education Class used malevolence method
to torture Falun Gong practitioners. For example, one practitioner inside was
locked over term but he was very steadfast and did not write 3 scripts. Owning
his extreme weakness, they had to release him. In April 2002, he was arrested
again into the Huangpu Law System Education Class till the beginning of January
2003. During these period, the staffs in the education class used very acrimony
tacts to torture him. They tied his legs and hands separately; used a dirty
mop to cork the drain of a toilet; hanging his heads down and feet up; immersed
his face into the toilet; once he drunk the dirty water they started to add
continuously until he was full and felt ill; when he wanted to pass urine they
were not allowed and said that if he had to drink his urine once he passed.
Finally, he was forced to pass urine onto his trousers. Because he was very
weak and the hitter was afraid if kept on torturing he would lose his life,
so they did not tie his legs and hands anymore but asked him to squat on the
side of the toilet, put hands on the back; they then stepped on his head to
force him to drink the dirty water. His hands were frail and bleeding because
of the torture. The hitter threatened that if he insisted not to write 3 scripts
there were more than 20 other tacts to force him, such as inject poison needles, etc. who can imagine that all of the above acridity
tacts appeared in today’s China. If it is not seen and experienced myself, who
will believe it? But it is true. There was a female professor of Guangzhou University,
who was said to be very tall, could not bear the torture and hanged herself
up to suicide.
Huangpu Law System Education Class is set up in Huangpu drug user abstaining
bureau, was a prison previously. One Falun Gong practitioner was locked in one
room, washing, eating, passing, sleeping all in one room. There are closed circuit
televisions to monitor each movement of practitioners. They gathered practitioners
only when they were organized to watch the slandering programs from CCTV or
VCD. Practitioners were not allow to talk with each other when they were together.
At dinner time, practitioners were released from room one by one separately.
During the time of detention, practitioners are not allowed to see anyone. These
two Guangzhou Law System Education Classes look like prison; high walls around
with peek holes to prevent practitioners to escape. Even release after the education
class, there would not be peace for practitioners. Whenever the sensitive days
such as 25 April, 4 June, 13 May, 27 July and public holidays or important official
meetings of the country or province, 7 or 8 police and leaders from street committee
will visit practitioners’ home to arrest practitioners to the education class
and write 3 scripts again. My home was ransacked by police and they confiscated
3 PC, 1 laptop, a printer, a laser printer, motor bike, mobile phone, money
and Falun Gong books.
