The Falun Dafa Association of NSW has contacted the Falun Gong practitioners in
Villawood detention centre in the morning of 19 June 2005 and confirmed that they
are all intact and were not involved in the self-harm yesterday despite inaccurate
reports, such as the article in The Sun-Herald online http://www.smh.com.au/news/National/13-detainees-slash-wrists-at-Villawood/2005/06/18/1119034101719.html?oneclick=true#
linking Falun Gong practitioners with the incident.
The teachings of Falun
Gong strictly prohibit killing and self-harm. All Falun Gong teachings are open
to the public and available free online. www.falunau.org
or www.falundafa.org
We urge the Australian
government to immediately investigate the visits and spreading of Chinese Consulate
pamphlets relating to Falun Gong by Chinese officials to Villawood detainees.
ACCURATE
REPORTING ON FALUN GONG:
Falun Gong (also called Falun Dafa) is a spiritual
practice.
It is composed of five sets of exercises and the belief in the universal
principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance.
It is inaccurate
to describe Falun Gong as a sect or a cult which has been used by the propaganda
of Chinese authorities to provoke hatred among the people towards Falun Gong practitioners
to justify its persecution.
