SYDNEY (FDI), 8 May 2003 – A special display of authentic costumes from the Chinese Tang Dynasty (618 – 907 AD) will be paraded in Chinatown. Dixon Street will be transformed into an unforgettable exhibition of ancient oriental dress. A never – before seen procession of men, women and children, will be in costumes worn by members of the Chinese court. This event will mark the start of the Global celebration of World Falun Dafa day.

This event previews a series of performances that are part of the World Falun Dafa concert held in Sydney Town Hall, 13 May 2003. The event welcomes all members of the Australian Community and is free and open to the public.

Australians will be able to experience the beauty of China’s Golden Era. The historical display marks World Falun Dafa Day, which hopes to highlight the positive influence of Chinese culture in the world.

In conjunction with Fashion Week, Australians will have an opportunity to experience fashion that is timeless in the streets of Sydney.

Background
World Falun Dafa day celebrates “Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance.” This year the Tang Dynasty is a major feature of the performances. The Tang Dynasty was one of the most prosperous periods in China’s history and considered to be the peak of cultural and social development with high moral standards.

Falun Dafa, also known as Falun Gong, is a practice of meditation and exercises based on the universal principles of “Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance.” Since its introduction in 1992, it quickly spread throughout China, and is now being practiced in over 50 countries.
