Media Release: 4th Anniversary of the Brutal Ban of Falun Gong in China

EXCLUSIVE:Special Photo Opportunity at CIRCULAR QUAY

(AFDI) Saturday, July 19 2003 – Hundreds of Falun Dafa practitioners are expected
to participate in a dawn candle vigil at Circular Quay.

July 20th marks the 4-year anniversary of the official ban of Falun Gong in
China by the Chinese Government. Since the ban there are millions of people
who have been persecuted, subjected to brutal torture and assault, including
many Australian citizens.

With the upcoming Australia-China Human Rights Dialogue, Australian Falun Gong
practitioners encourage the government to have open dialogue with China regarding
the Human Rights crisis in China and to help end the persecution.

Schedule of Events:

SUNDAY 20 JULY

6am – 7am Dawn Vigil Circular Quay (Contemporary Museum side)
7am – 8am Walk of Silence Circular Quay to Chinese Consulate
8am – 10am Peaceful Appeal Chinese Consulate (Elizabeth St)
12pm – 3pm PUBLIC TRIAL Town Hall Square

All-day commemoration events will be held in Sydney’s CBD, including a solemn
Walk of Silence to the Chinese consulate and a Public Trial, bringing the former
Chinese leader Jiang Zemin to Justice.

Background Information
Falun Dafa, also known as Falun Gong, a peaceful, ancient Chinese form of Qigong
– the art of self-improvement through exercise, meditation and understanding
of the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance. The practice
is non-religious and non-political. www.falunau.org
Falun Dafa is freely practiced by millions in over 60 different countries. After
initially sponsoring and encouraging the teaching of Falun Dafa in China and
overseas from 1992-1994, China is the only country persecuting the practice.
