Greece: Falun Gong Practitioners Hold the Only Officially Sanctioned Events During the Olympic Games (Photos)

Due to our efforts
in letting the public know about Falun Gong and the genocide that is taking place
against practitioners in China, and thanks to the peaceful nature of Falun Gong
cultivation practice, people who practice Falun Gong were the only group who received
permission to hold events in Athens.

The Chief of Police asked us to 'not
disappoint her' because she had experienced enormous pressure from the Chinese
Government, who demanded that she arrest all Falun Gong practitioners. Indeed,
Falun Dafa practitioners did not disappoint her and our peaceful demeanor touched the
police and the public alike.

One lady expressed her wish that all Greeks should
be as amiable and well mannered as Falun Gong practitioners. The Chief of Police
told us that we could contact her any time if there are any problems. We distributed
large amounts of Falun Gong flyers in Greek and English.

Chinese tourists and
members of Chinese delegations were warmly welcomed wherever we met them, and
many of them reacted positively.

On one Monday evening, we organized a gala
of music and dance performances in a 900-seat, open-air theater close to the Acropolis.
Admission was free. Although not everybody (we estimate about 200 people) stayed
until the end of the performance, we later received positive feedback from many
local people. The ranking chief of the Greek Police and a member of the City Council
who has always been very supportive gave a great speech at the end of the concert.

and dancing at the Acropolis

On the whole,
the activities in Athens were magnificent, especially considering the pressures
exerted by the Chinese Government, the limited time, financial difficulties, and
the small number of local practitioners.
