The Flagstaff Gardens is the oldest and one of many Falun Dafa practice sites in Melbourne.
Every Sunday since 1998, people have been gathering to practise together the five sets of tranquil exercises. The peaceful and serene environment created while practicing together has touched the hearts of many passers by on their hurried way to the Victoria Market.
As Monday is a public holiday, Falun Dafa practitioners will take this opportunity to come together once again, to practice, help any new arrivals to learn the exercises and answer any questions posed by members the public.
Monday, March 10 at the Flagstaff Gardens
10.00 am – 12.00 noon
The exercises are supplementary to the refinement of oneýs heart and mind in accordance with the universal characteristics of truthfulness, compassion and forbearance. All practitioners try to progress towards wisdom and enlightenment by measuring all thoughts and actions by these principles. This is the essence of Falun Dafa.
Members of the media are welcome to ask questions.

Recent developments
February 20, 2003 – Discrimination hearing against Federation of Chinese Associations settled in Falun Dafa Associationýs favour with guaranteed participation in future Chinese New Year Festival up to 2008.
March 7, 2003 – The Victorian Civil Administrative Tribunal refused Falun Dafa Associationýs application for an interim injunction to compel the Melbourne City Council to honour Falun Dafaýs original inclusion in the Moomba Parade.
Deputy President John Bowman ruled the Equal Opportunity Act did not cover the relationship between Melbourne City Council and the parade’s participants. While not ruling out possible discrimination, Mr Bowman said he could not order Falun Dafa’s float be included because the council was not providing a “service”.
Judge Bowman expressed “considerable sympathy” for the [Falun Dafa] Association knowing that Falun Dafa practitioners put in considerable effort after being accepted in the Moomba Parade. He commented that FD expressed a preparedness not to do anything political in the parade. He said that FD had been “given the green light and suddenly the light turned red”.
The judge went on to say that Falun Dafa would be “a good fit” in the parade and that one would have thought that especially in these troubled times the principles expressed by Falun Dafa would seem to be desirable [to society].
