Queanbeyan is a small town next to the Australian
capital Canberra and has a population of more than 37,000. It the fastest growing
inland city in New South Wales. While there are quite a number of practitioners
in Canberra, there are none that we know of in Queanbeyan.
On Saturday
2nd July, practitioners from Canberra went to hongfa in the shopping center in
Queanbeyan by doing exercise demonstrations, making paper lotus flowers and hand
out information regarding the defection of former Chinese diplomat Chen Yonglin
and speak with people about Falun Dafa and the persecution in China and its extension
overseas including Australia.
Many people to the shopping center were interested
to see the graceful exercises. Young children were attracted to the demonstration
of making paper lotus flowers. Some people were delighted to see the beauty of
Chinese calligraphy and asked to have theirs names translated and written in Chinese
by two elderly practitioners.
A number of people told us that they were
pleased to see themselves what Falun Gong is although they had heard about Falun
Gong before. Some said that they don’t understand why the Chinese Communist Party
would persecute people doing something like this. One gentleman in his 60s was
very interested to know more about Falun Gong. He spent about one hour in the
morning watching our exercise demonstration, reading the flyer and talking to
us. He took a VCD home. After watching it he came back in the afternoon to the
shopping center to find out more and thanked us for letting him know what is happening
in China. He expressed an interest to learn Falun Gong.

the exercises and joined the practice demonstration.

Apparently
after the defection of the former Chinese diplomat Chen Yonglin, the news reports
about him and his claims of a large Chinese communist spying network on Falun
Gong and other groups in Australia, more and more people are becoming aware of
the persecution of Falun Gong in China and its extension to Australia. More and
more people are getting to know the truth of Falun Gong and want to learn it.
