‘World Falun Dafa Day’ was initially organised in 2000 to enable Falun Dafa (Falun
Gong) practitioners in more than 60 countries around the world to celebrate the
benefits they have experienced through Falun Dafa’s teachings of Truth, Compassion
and Forbearance. It is a day to celebrate the continual spread of these principles
despite China’s relentless campaign of slander and abuse towards Falun Dafa and
Falun Dafa practitioners.
This year, Falun Dafa practitioners around Australia
are proud to host a grand parade on Saturday, May 8th, 2004 in Sydney’s CBD to
celebrate the 5th “World Falun Dafa Day”. They presented to the community
a glimpse of the sometimes joyous, sometimes heart wrenching, and always eventful
path that Falun Dafa has traveled over the past 12 years.
The parade tells
the story of this journey in five sections.
Section 1&2: Falun Dafa
captures the hearts of people in China and around the world
Falun Dafa
is also called Falun Gong, a traditional self-cultivation practice to improve
mind and body based on the universal principles of Truth-Compassion-Forbearance.
Falun Dafa greatly improves physical health and well-being which attracted more
than 100 million people over 60 countries.
Section 3: An unexpected and
brutal crackdown and the Chinese regime deceiving overseas Chinese and inciting
hate
Afraid to lose his tight control over the populace, the former president
of China, Jiang Zemin, suddenly launched a campaign of terror against the peaceful
practice of Falun Gong on July, 1999. He uses state-run media to slander and demonize
Falun Gong both inside and outside China and also tortures and murders practitioners.
More than 955 deaths are confirmed to date, including children, women and senior
citizens.
Section 4: International calls for justice and for an end to
the persecution, Global effort to bring Jiang Zemin to justice for crimes against
humanity
Falun Dafa is rapidly gaining recognition, especially in Asia,
Australia, Europe, and North America. In the face of violence and lies, we must
not keep silent. When humanity’s most fundamental and cherished values are under
attack, we must step forward to defend them.
Section 5: Clarifying the
truth, let the Buddha’s light shine and harmonize all
Falun Dafa cultivation
emphasizes that one should conduct oneself according to the principle of “Truth-Compassion-Tolerance.”
Regardless of gender or age, regardless of nationality and race, every practitioner
who persistently cultivates his/her heart and practices the exercises has benefited
tremendously. The world will eventually come a day when we will usher in a bright
and wonderful new era.
After the parade, performances were played by the
practitioners who wrote the music and songs themsevles.
This event has also
brought awareness to people of Australia of the ongoing persecution of Falun Gong
practitioners in China. Since 1999 thousands have been tortured to death or sent
to labour camps for their belief in Truth-Compassion-Tolerance.
Many mainstream media Channel9, NTDTV, Epochtimes etc. recorded this grand parade and reported this event on the same night.
