Another Two Most Recent Death Cases of Falun Gong Practitioners in China

On Tuesday, 27th of January, more than fifty Falun Gong practitioners gathered in front of the Chinese Embassy in Canberra to protest the brutal persecution of another two practitioners in China in the New Year of 2004.

  • Meng Xiao, female, 37, an employee of the Chengdu Steel Company, was tortured and injected with nerve damaging drugs and eventually died between 8th – 12th of January at Jin Tang county of Chengdu(Southwest China). After the death, Meng Xiao’s body was cremated straight away without informing Meng’s family.
  • Tang Meijun, female, age 49, was an operator from the Railway Communications Company under the Chongqing(Southwest China) Railway Bureau. During a two-year term of forced labour she was subjected to both physical and mental torture. In 2003, she was released on bail for medical treatment. On December 10, 2003, she was arrested while distributing truth-clarifying materials. At 4:30 p.m. on December 30, she died in the Maojia Forced Labour Camp.

    Falun Dafa, also known as Falun Gong, is a practice of meditation and exercises with teachings based on the universal principles of “Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance.” It was introduced to the public in 1992, and quickly spread to more than 100 million people throughout China by word of mouth. It is now practised in over 60 countries worldwide. However, the former Chinese president Jiang Zemin insisted on outlawing the peaceful practice in July 1999, up to date, there are 867 Falun Gong practitioners have been tortured to death, including three family members of Australian citizens.
