Since March 2002, our Foreign Minister Mr Downer continues to stifle our democratic rights of freedom and speech by signing monthly certificates restricting the use of banners by Falun Gong practitioners – conducting their peaceful appeal outside of the Chinese Embassy in Canberra. These certificates were initiated to curb any so-called embarrassment to the Chinese Foreign Minister during his visit at the time.
These good people’s presence and vigilance aims to remind us of the ongoing persecution against millions of innocent citizens in China simply for following “Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance”.
Just how long can our own government remain silent on this human calamity? How long can our leaders condone the abhorrent actions of China’s Communist dictatorship while curtailing the fundamental rights of fellow Australians who seek only to bring to an end China’s countless crimes against humanity?
