Letter to MP by Australian Citizens re Deportation of Falun Gong Practitioners

We are writing to you in regard to the intended deportation of Falun Gong practitioners, (name omitted) to China. This is a very serious matter and we ask that you take the time to read the information regarding their case and the ongoing persecution of Falun Gong practitioners both in China and in other countries, including Australia.

We are saddened to see that the Australian government still does not seem to understand the seriousness of the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China. The persecution has been going on for over six years now and the confirmed death toll is in excess of 2780. Reports from within the Communist Party have claimed that the real toll is well over 10,000.

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) claims that only Falun Gong leaders risk persecution. This is a blatant lie that has deceived many governments. It is a fact, that there are no leaders within the practice of Falun Gong. It is a cultivation system where one improves one’s health and moral character by following the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance. No one can teach a person to improve him or herself; this comes from within one’s own heart.

One example that proves the CCP’s lie is the case of the deportation of Falun Gong practitioners Jiang Renzheng and his wife Guo Rui. The couple had requested asylum, for themselves and their two young children, in Germany. Unfortunately, the German government believed that the family would not be persecuted on their return to China, as they were not leaders, but ordinary Falun Gong practitioners. They were deported to China on 7 March 2005. Jiang was arrested in China on 8 April for “disrupting the order of the society” and was sentenced to 3 years in Benxi Forced Labour Camp without legal proceedings. The German government has since realized their mistake and is now doing everything within their power to gain Jiang’s release and his family’s return to Germany.

Why is it, that at a time when so many governments and people of the world have realized the size and brutality of this persecution, that the Australian government still seems unable or unwilling to recognize the severity of the persecution and refuses to speak up to the Chinese Communist Party? In fact, Mr Downer still continues to sign the monthly certificates restricting the peaceful Falun Gong appeals outside the Chinese Embassy in Canberra. Again, we remind you that Australia is the only democratic country in the world that restricts the Falun Gong appeals.

Is it wrong for the Australian people to raise awareness of the largest scale persecution currently taking place in the world today? Is it wrong to ask the Chinese officials to stop torturing and murdering their own innocent citizens? Is it wrong to be a voice for the millions who have no voice? Is it wrong to ask for justice to be upheld in a country that recognizes no legal system? Can members of the Australian government hold their heads high as they shake hands with leaders and officials who are personally responsible for the brutal torture and murder of their own peaceful citizens? Is trade so important to our government that we can ignore the fact that the CCP has murdered approximately 80 million of it’s own citizens in 56 years?

We ask you, as our local representative, to look into the persecution currently taking place in China against Falun Gong practitioners. We also request that you look into the harassment being directed at Australian Falun Gong practitioners. It is important that you are fully aware of the serious consequences of deporting a Falun Gong practitioner back to China. We, as Australians, do not wish to support the CCP in the largest scale and most brutal genocide since World War II.

Remember, all it takes for evil people to succeed, is for good people to remain silent.

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter.

Yours sincerely,

John & Amanda
