Melbourne practitioners held the Victorian premiere of the Truth Compassion
Forbearance Art Exhibition in the Victorian Artists Society Galleries from the
2nd – 7th of June that continued at the busy city corporate building at Exhibition
Street, Melbourne from the 9th – 17th June 2005.
The
opening night featured speakers Robyn Kilpatrick from Amnesty International, and
renowned artist Zhang Cuiying who also experienced brutal persecution in China
for practising Falun Gong. Many visitors felt extremely touched and moved to tears
by the exhibition and were deeply changed by the experience. Some practitioners
took visitors on conducted tours of the exhibition in order to more thoroughly
explain the story behind each painting. Many artists and aspiring artists from
the Victorian Artist Society visited and learned about the persecution of Falun
Gong. As part of the closing night ceremony the movie Sandstorm was shown and
an honorary gift from Zhang Cuiying of some of signed copies her traditional Chinese
paintings was presented to the Secretary of the Victorian Artist Society.
Practitioners
were able to pull together very well to create a very righteous field in the Artist
Society Galleries, and the energy in the main room where the painting of a Buddha
was displayed was very powerful and bright. Various media reported on the exhibition
including NTDTV, Sound of Hope Radio, The Age and The Epoch Times.
The Exhibition
Street Gallery space attracted numerous visitors, with people coming in to look
at the paintings before work, during the lunch hour and after work, even while
waiting for the bus just outside. Most people signed the petitions and wanted
to take more information on Falun Gong. Many people in the city and suburbs received
the flier about the exhibition. Distributing fliers throughout the city in many
corporate buildings was given priority. Beautiful invitation letters with a lotus
flower were presented to the managers of the companies in the building where the
exhibition was being held, and they were very supportive. One printing company
in the building offered to photocopy fliers at almost no cost as he felt he would
like to support our exhibition.
One visitor to the exhibition could see
the light of Buddhas and Gods coming through the paintings with his third eye.
Another man felt such a strong compulsion to see the exhibition after receiving
a flier that he took a day off work and ended up spending the whole day there.
People were generally happy to spend a lot of time talking to practitioners and
learning the facts about Falun Gong and all related issues. .
The Truth Compassion
Forbearance Art Exhibition will continue to tour Melbourne and suburbs as well
as regional Victoria, Adelaide and South Australia.
