PERSECUTED Chinese group Falun Dafa brought their teachings of peace and compassion to the Spring Festival street parade with a vibrant cultural display.
Led by a group dressed in the distinctive bright yellow exercise outfits, Falun Dafa were the most colourful participants in the parade.
Dancers representing the Tang Dynasty were startlingly beautiful in traditional costumes.
“We chose that period because the Tang Dynasty was 2000 years ago and was the most prosperous and virtuous period in Chinese history,” co-ordinator Ruby Wong said.
Lotus flowers dancers and the young “twinkle stars” from the Minghui School entranced the assembled crowds.
But behind the beauty, the group had a very serious message.
“We want to demonstrate the peacefulness and the beauty of Falun Dafa,” Ms Wong said.
“Falun Dafa teaches truthfulness, compassion and tolerance.”
Falun Dafa advocates say its benefits include increased energy, stress relief, achieving peace of mind, and a healthier body and mind.
The teachings recommend a holistic approach to being a better person inside and out. The practice is separate from political, commercial and religious affiliations, and is suitable for all ages.
