REPRESENTATIVES of the meditation and lifestyle group, Falun Gong, visited the
Border last week to raise awareness of their organisations plight.
Sydneysiders
Leon and Isabel Wong are devotees of the group, which began in China and teaches
principles of truthfulness, compassion and tolerance.
Mr Wong said many
followers had been persecuted in China and there was a push outside China to file
lawsuits against those who had acted unlawfully towards the Falun Gong.
He
said he was recently with nine Falun Gong who travelled to South Africa to lodge
legal papers in defence of the group.
Mr Wong said the car in which they
travelled from the Johan-nesburg airport was shot at by a man with an AK-47 gun
and a colleague was severely injured.
He said the shooting was not a random
attack but an attempt to halt the legal process.
Mr Wong said he was gathering
signatures for a petition supporting Falun Gong that he wants presented to parliament.
