On Tuesday, 27th of January, more than fifty Falun Gong practitioners gathered in front of the Chinese Embassy in Canberra to protest the brutal persecution of another two practitioners in China in the New Year of 2004.
Falun Dafa, also known as Falun Gong, is a practice of meditation and exercises with teachings based on the universal principles of “Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance.” It was introduced to the public in 1992, and quickly spread to more than 100 million people throughout China by word of mouth. It is now practised in over 60 countries worldwide. However, the former Chinese president Jiang Zemin insisted on outlawing the peaceful practice in July 1999, up to date, there are 867 Falun Gong practitioners have been tortured to death, including three family members of Australian citizens.
