Four Gold Coast law students will help prepare a high profile case.
The Griffith University students will carry out research for the legal team
representing a practitioner of the spiritual movement, Falun Gong, who
alleges she was tortured in China.
A petition is due to be presented to a United Nations’ committee next year.
One of the students, Catherine Young, says she values the opportunity to be
involved.
“It could take a long time, but human rights is a very important area and we
believe that it’s something worth spending our time outside university to
do,” she said.
“If I can help in any small way to help this lady and help stop what
happened to her happening to other people in the future, then I am all for
it.”
