This issue of the newsletter is to inform you about the ongoing persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China and how the legal system in North America is being utilized to help bring an end to this horrendous ongoing violation of the human rights of tens of millions of people. We send this to you as part of a larger effort to inform various segments of society of the truth of what is occurring in the persecution of Falun Gong. Many people tend to think of Falun Gong as strictly a China issue, yet Falun Gong is now practiced in over 50 countries world-wide.
A case has been filed in the US Federal Court charging former PRC President Jiang Zemin with genocide, gross violations of human rights and crimes against humanityin his brutal persecution of Falun Gong. Practitioners of Falun Gong practice and live according to the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance. One doesn’t need to be a Falun Gong practitioner to recognize these universal principles, as they are fundamental to all that is good in our human society. Since July 1999, Jiang Zemin has orchestrated a plan to achieve the systematic elimination of Falun Gong in China. His actions have resulted in the murder,torture, disappearance and detention of hundreds of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners. More than one dozen Australians presently have family members detained in forced labour camps in China for being Falun Gong practitioners. To date, more than 700 deaths due to torture have been confirmed in China, although the actual number is likely many times higher. Just as the true extent of the devastating SARS epidemic has been aggressively covered up in China, the true extent of the persecution of Falun Gong is still largely hidden.
This suit is not against the government of China. Nor does it target any legitimate and lawful acts of any of China’s officers. The plaintiffs sue Jiang Zemin for exploiting his official position to commit atrocious human rights violations in direct violation of the values enshrined in the constitutions, international treaties, and laws of all civilized nations today.
