– An Unforgettable Day for Falun Gong Practitioners
April 25, 2003 marks the 4th Anniversary of the Zhongnanhai Incident in Beijing 1999. Today, more than one hundred practitioners from Sydney arrived at Bondi Beach at 5:30am, to send righteous thoughts and practice the meditation exercises. Practitioners remembered those who lost their lives to the brutal persecution in China. White flowers were thrown into the sea, a gesture honouring those who were killed for upholding the principles of Truth, Compassion and Tolerance.
On April 25, 1999, 10,000 Falun Gong practitioners’ peacefully appealed outside the Chinese Government compound at Zhongnanhai. The aim was to plea to the Chinese Government for the release of incarcerated fellow practitioners. But instead of releasing the practitioners, the Chinese Communist regime has embarked on a relentless persecution of millions of Falun Gong practitioners and has created another dark chapter in history.
The Zhongnanhai anniversary is remembered in this symbolic event – a solemn reminder that freedom of belief and speech is not only denied in China, but valuable lives have been lost unnecessarily in continued violations of basic human rights. Recently, the world has seen the dangers of cover up’s and lies which have dictated the policy of the Chinese Communist Regime. China’s propaganda machine has once again shown its menacing face, with the escalating news of the SARS epidemic. This highlights how the inaccuracy of the Xinhua News Agency reporting and misinformation has resulted in the cost of human lives.
