Brutalities at the "610 Office" Brainwashing Center in the City
of Mudanjiang

I am a Falun Gong practitioner. In an attempt to force me to give up my belief,
the police forcibly took me to a brainwashing center. The following is an account
of what I saw and heard at the brainwashing center.
Wang Jin, female, over 70 years old, is a retired factory worker. The police
kidnapped her from home in the middle of the night. At the same time, they took
her daughter to the No. 2 Detention Center in Mudanjiang, leaving behind her
son-in-law who was sick, and a granddaughter who was still in school. This was
the second time Wang Jin has been persecuted. She went on a hunger strike to
protest the persecution. The people at the "610 Office,"* Yi Xiaofeng
and Zhu, paid no attention to her. Wang was finally released after five days
into the hunger strike when she developed a high fever.
Zhang Hongyi, female, over 70 years old, is retired. She was sent to the brainwashing
center. The reason was that the 16th Congress was underway, and officials were
afraid that Dafa practitioners would go to Beijing to appeal.
Wang Lei, female, 33 years old, is employed by Mudanjiang Water Company. She
had been persecuted before. She was pregnant when the "610 Office"
took her to the brainwashing center. The Party Secretary at her workplace conspired
with the city police, the "610 Office", and her husband’s workplace
to pressure her. They claimed that she could go home only if she had an abortion,
or else she would be detained at the brainwashing center. Wang and her husband
decided that they would keep the baby even if they both lost their jobs. Wang’s
workplace, however, insisted she have an abortion; they even pressured Wang’s
parents and uncles. Wang’s husband was taken to the city police station and
tortured for two days and two nights. Under this intense pressure, Ms. Wang
was forced to have an abortion.
Yue is a female practitioner. She was deceived by the Party Secretary at her
workplace and sent to the brainwashing center. Yue was very healthy after she
started practicing Falun Gong. Since she could not study or practice Falun Dafa
at the brainwashing center, she twice suffered symptoms of a heart attack.
Ning Hong is a female practitioner who is over 50 years old. She was illegally
sent to a forced labor camp for two years because she was determined in her
Falun Dafa practice. At the labor camp, under intense persecution, her abdomen
swelled up, and her hair turned white. She was finally released when she was
on the brink of death. Once she returned home, she regained her health through
practicing Dafa, and her hair turned black again. The police, finding out that
she had recovered, took her to the brainwashing center for persecution. At the
brainwashing center, Ning continued to study the Fa, practice the exercises,
and send forth righteous thoughts. The "610 Office" and the police
fabricated some groundless charges and sent her to the No. 2 Detention Center
in Mudanjiang.
Ning Yan, a female practitioner, was sent to a forced labor camp for insisting
on practicing Falun Dafa. Two months after her release from the labor camp,
she was again kidnapped and brought to the brainwashing center. Ning refused
to cooperate with the authorities at the center. Yi Xiaofeng, from the "610
Office," violently dragged her off the bed and viciously beat her. Later
Yi conspired with the local police and sent her to the No. 2 Detention Center
of Mudanjiang for further persecution.
Zhao Jianguo, male, is over 50 years old. He was sentenced to one year at a
forced labor camp for insisting on practicing Falun Dafa. He was kidnapped and
brought to the brainwashing center soon after his release from the labor camp.
At home, his elderly parents and young children all depend on him. At the brainwashing
center, Zhao demanded his unconditional release and started a hunger strike.
The officials did not pay any attention to him until ten days later when his
life was in danger. He was finally transferred to a local police station.
Fu Xiaofan, male, was not allowed to return to work after being released from
a forced labor camp. He could find only temporary work and lived with his mother.
When taken again to the brainwashing center, he was still determined in his
practice of Dafa. The police then arrested him and sent him back to the forced
labor camp.
Song Yan was sent to a forced labor camp for three years and one month for
adhering to his belief in Falun Dafa. He was then transferred directly to the
brainwashing center for further persecution.
Lu Min and Zhang Zhen were persecuted in a forced labor camp for one year.
After they served their sentences, they were detained at Linkou Detention Center
for another six months. Later, they were sentenced to three years of forced
labor based on fabricated charges.
Others at the brainwashing center include An Baoping, Zhang Guobing, and many
more. These people cannot go home or go to work. In addition, the authorities
extort large sums of money from the detainees at the brainwashing center.
Officials involved in the persecution include members of the "610 Office",
Yi Xiaofen, Zhu , Li Gaoyang, and Li Changqing (Secretary of the Political and
Judiciary Committee).
* The "610 Office" is a bureau specifically created by the Chinese
government to persecute Falun Gong. It has absolute power over each level of
administration in the Party, as well as over the political and judiciary branches.
