URGENT

Dear Mr Ruddock

Re: Deportation of Mr Wang Jun Tao and Mrs Wang Li Luan

Immigration File No: CLF 2001/40662
RRT File No: N02/45236
Client ID: 31527125190 (Mr Wang Jun Tao), 31736125190 (Mrs Wang Li Luan)

We respectfully request your urgent attention to the plight of Mr. and Mrs. Wang who were near to being deported back to China this morning in Sydney, where they would face persecution for their practice of Falun Gong.

Regardless of any prior assessments you may have of their case, we sincerely request you to look clearly at the heart of this matter. They would be returned to a society that is committing vast national resources on a systematic and encompassing genocide against the 70 million civilians who practice Falun Gong.

We have just received news that they had been stopped from being flown back to China and are currently in a detention center. We request you to grant them further consideration for an asylum. We trust that you will find our request to be one to which you can accede in good conscience once the ramifications are truly known to you.

We urge you to investigate the serious threat that is posed to anyone returned to China who is known as a Falun Gong practitioner and who is known to have publicly appealed against the persecution. Recently several Falun Gong practitioners from western countries have also been arrested in China.

1. Australian citizen Nancy Chen was kidnapped on 22 January this year while visiting her parents and was fortunately released 10 days later because of the your government’s intervention. During her detention she was taken by the Chinese National Security Bureau to Nanmusi Women’s Detention Centre in Zizhong City, where she saw first hand the brutal attempts to “transform” practitioners into giving up their beliefs.

2. American citizen Mr Charles Li was also taken on 22 January is still being detained. He arrived at Guangzhou airport for a Chinese New Year family visit and was then transferred 1,000 miles away to the Yangzhou Detention Center in Jiangsu Province even though he is not from that Province.

3. German practitioner, Ms Lin Wenrong went back to China to visit her family on 17 January this year, but was kidnapped on 29 January in her hometown of Wuhan City and is still detained.

We hope you can begin to understand there is no rationale or logic to Chinese ex-leader Jiang Zemin’s vendetta crazed genocide of Falun Gong practitioners in China. How could anyone make sense of the systematic torture and incarceration of peaceful people who wish to meditate, practice 5 exercises and live by the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance? This tragedy has to date led to the documented deaths of 578 good people, while other sources within the Chinese government have confirmed over 1600 have died and 100,000 are in labor camps.

We hope that the Australian government, which has a sound system of justice where the voice of the people can be heard, would offer you compassion to safeguard the lives of innocent people that has come to your good knowledge and conscience, who would otherwise perish under a senseless persecution.

Yours sincerely,

Diana Wang, Ph.D.
Assistant to William Ng, Ph.D.
President, Falun Buddha Society (Singapore)
