by a Sydney Falun Dafa practitioner
A seemingly insignificant incident occurred at the “Music of the Spring” cultural show in Sydney.
In the afternoon on the day of the show, everyone was right into the swing of things and was busy with rehearsing and preparing for the show. This went on till dinner time, when one of the practitioners took the initiative to go out and buy takeaway dinners for everyone. Not long afterwards, she and a few other practitioners came back laden with 20 or more boxed meals. She called on the other practitioners to come and have their dinners. As the other practitioners started to settle down for their meals, there were still a few boxes left on the table and she kept on urging and passing the meals to those who had not yet eaten. At that moment, I realised she herself was chewing on bits of toast. I asked her why she was not eating one of the meals herself and she replied that she had already eaten. I took that to mean that she had taken lunch, so I shared some of my food with her. Only then did I realise that she had, out of her own pocket, bought dinners for everyone but herself and she had in fact not eaten at all. Her first thought had been to feed everyone else first.
The next day, I related this little incident to my husband, who is a non-practitioner; he was really moved by this just like I had been. He said that it would have been much better had I offered her all of my meal. Later that evening, I spotted my husband picking up his English version of “Zhuan Falun”, which till then had been left unread for a long time.
This might have only been a small incident, but it is one that I will never forget.
