2004 National Falun Dafa Day Events In Canberra(Photos)

The weekend of 19 June to 21 June 2004 marked the celebration of National Falun
Dafa Day in Canberra Australia. Practitioners from all over Australia took the
opportunity to gather in Canberra to make the public more aware of the persecution
of Falun Gong practitioners in China and to expose the torture methods and lies
used by the Jiang regime to poison the people of the world.

On Saturday, practitioners
travelled around to all the major shopping centres giving out information flyers
and showing posters of the persecution in China. They took the time to explain
the principle of Falun Dafa to many passers-by and were told by many people of
the support they have in their campaign to bring the perpetrator of torture &
persecution to justice.

On Sunday, 20 June 2004, practitioners gathered
in the city centre of Canberra at Garema Court and set up a display of the torture
methods used in the jails and labour camps against Falun Gong practitioners. Many
people were shocked and showed their sympathy to what Falun Gong practitioners
in China have suffered. They all read the story and explanation attentively. In
the same city centre, Falun Gong practitioners put on an enactment of a mock trial
to bring Jiang to justice in the court of morality and decency.

An open
forum on the “Bill of Rights” was also held on Sunday in the city centre
to raise and discuss the issue that Falun Gong practitioners are not allowed to
hold signs or banners outside the Chinese Embassy in Canberra. This ban is restricting
practitioners and Australian citizens right to freedom of expression to tell the
truth to the public. Falun Gong practitioners and other officials and lawyers
have expressed their willingness to help in returning those rights to appeal in
front of the Chinese embassy with banners and signs.

In the late afternoon
and early evening, practitioners gathered in front of the Chinese Embassy for
a peaceful appeal with candle light vigil. It was such a cold winter’s day with
a chill wind blowing, but practitioners carried their persistent and peaceful
hearts to appeal, to voice what the Chinese practitioners cannot express, they
believe that the end of the persecution will come early.

On Monday, Falun
Gong practitioners held the annual ceremony of National Falun Dafa Day in front
of Parliament House. The weather on Monday was as glorious as if it were a beautiful
spring day. This lifted the spirits of practitioners to put on a magnificent display
of the peaceful exercises and demonstrations of song and dance. Along side the
practitioners performance was a display of the torture methods used in Chinese
labour camps and prisons, and a mock trial to bring Jiang to justice. Many politicians
and tourists walked through the area and looked on in both shock and amazement
that this type of persecution still goes on in parts of the world where countries
preach free trade and strong economy on the one hand and restrict the freedoms
of their own people on the other hand. On the same occasion of National Falun
Dafa Day in 2002, 92,622 petition signatures were presented to Anthony Albanese
at Parliament House in an effort to urge the Australian government to help stop
the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China. On National Falun Dafa Day
in 2003, Senator Andrew Bartlett announced at the same event the launch of the
Global Falun Gong Family Rescue Campaign in Australia. All these support and just
voices are great encouragement to the ones who have suffered because of their
belief in Truth Compassion and Tolerance.

The National Falun Dafa Day was
concluded by the Grand parade which marched from parliament house to the Chinese
Embassy. There, many tourists from China witnessed that the Falun Gong is freely
practised and welcomed in overseas countries. Many major media attended and recorded
the events during the weekend.
